About The Children's Inn at NIH
The Children’s Inn at NIH is a family centered residence for children and their families participating in groundbreaking pediatric research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As partners in discovery and care with the NIH, The Inn provides ‘A Place Like Home’ for more than 1,700 families each year. Families travel from all 50 states and 94 countries to The Inn and the NIH, seeking a diagnosis, a treatment and the hope of a cure. When you support the Inn, you are giving hope – from the medical breakthroughs that might save a child’s life, to the welcome home at the end of a rough day of treatment. While the NIH takes care of a child’s medical needs, The Inn tends to the child’s heart, soul, and spirit, striving to provide a place where kids can be kids, and families can be together in a safe, supportive environment. At The Inn, children make friends with other children who have chronic or life-threatening illnesses, and parents can find refuge and support from each other during tough times. If The Inn did not exist, some families may not be able to have their children participate in studies at the NIH because the cost of staying in a hotel for the duration of the treatment could be prohibitive.
